COVID-19 Plan & Prevention

The success of our school opening and keeping staff and students requires that everyone in the preschool community follows safe practices, both inside and outside school hours. We anticipate operating on our regular schedule as published in the preschool calendar. However, you should be aware that we may be forced to make changes in response to changing virus conditions. The following are steps we've taken to assist in keeping everyone in our school healthy:

Masks

Staff and students are encouraged, but not required, to wear a mask if they can wear it safely. Safely means they do not touch, more, or otherwise play with the mask.

Hand Washing

Proper and frequent hand washing is a primary method of preventing the spread of the virus. Our staff and students will wash their hands upon entering the building each morning, after using the restroom, before and after snack and lunch, after being on the playground, before leaving for the day, and any other time deemed necessary by staff.

Social Distancing

While it is almost impossible to keep young children 6 feet apart, we are making changes to how our classroom is laid out. Examples of some of these changes include: spacing out centers, spreading out "circle time", and seating students further apart during snack and lunch times. We will also incorporate smaller groups, and students will stay within these groups throughout the entire day.

Cleaning & Disinfecting

We have implemented extra cleaning measures to prevent the spread of germs. High touch surfaces will be cleaned more frequently. We have removed all soft fabrics. We have also installed and washer and dryer to allow for daily cleaning of cot sheets and blankets. Deep cleaning will occur every Wednesday evening between classes.

Drop Off

Parents and caregivers should not enter the building. Instead, enter our parking lot from North Street, and pull up into the circle. Do not use parking spaces. Please wait in your vehicle until the person in front of you has re-entered their vehicle. Once you are the first vehicle in line, you may walk your child to the front door where a staff member will meet you.

Pick Up

Pick up will be done in the same manner as drop off. Once you are the first vehicle in line, you may walk up to the front door and ring the doorbell. A staff member will bring your child to you.

Monitor Your Child's Symptoms

A wide range of symptoms have been reported with COVID-19, ranging from mild to severe. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Monitor your child's health, and watch for the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

If your child shows any of the listed symptoms, do not send your child to school. You will be required to keep your child home for 10 days from the onset of symptoms.

Positive COVID-19 Test

If a staff member or student tests positive, we will follow DHS guidelines.
